आज्य  n.  2. n. (√ अञ्ज् Vārtt. on [Pāṇ. 3-1, 109]), melted or clarified butter (used for oblations, or for pouring into the holy fire at the sacrifice, or for anointing anything sacrificed or offered), [RV. x]; [AV.]; [VS.] &c.
   (in a wider sense) oil and milk used instead of clarified butter at a sacrifice
