Applied to a stern, rigorous, inexorable fellow sent to dun or make some demand; a rude and insisting messenger. See धुताडा Sig. II. The two words, although affirmed by some to be but two forms, are certainly of different origin, even of the origin respectively assigned; for this is never used in the sense given under that, and that but seldom, and then, under allowance, in the sense ascribed to this.
