Shabda-Sagara

भट्टारक  mfn.  ( -कः-का-कं) Venerable, respectable, entitled to reverence or to homage.
 m.  ( -क्तः)
1. A sage, a Muni or saint.
2. A deity.
3. (In theatrical language,) A king.
4. The sun.
5. A term especially applied to a Bauddha teacher.
E. भट to nourish, aff. क्विप्, तृ to pass, aff. खुल् and त changed to ट; otherwise

ROOTS:

भट क्विप् तृ खुल् त ट;

with टल् to be con- fused, the same aff., and ल changed to ष; a cherisher and punisher, a distributor of rewards and punishments; again, भट्ट said here to mean, authority ऋ to go to or obtain, अण् aff. कन् added.
