सरयु  f. f.N. of a well-known river (commonly called Surjoo; on which stood the ancient city अयोध्या [cf.[R. i, 5; 6] ]; it is a tributary of the Gogra [see घर्घर], and in [RV.] is mentioned along with the rivers सरस्वती, सिन्धु, गङ्गा, यमुना, and शुतुद्री).
