पाक—यज्ञ  m.  b m. (according to some) a cooked (according to others ‘a simple or domestic’) sacrifice (of 3 [ [ĀśvGṛ.]], 4 [ [Mn.]] or 7 [ [Āpast.]; [Baudh.]; [Gaut.]] forms or kinds), [TS.]; [Br.]; [GṛŚrS.] &c. ( cf. [IW. 188 n. 1])

Shabda-Sagara

पाकयज्ञ  m.  ( -ज्ञः) An oblation offered on building a house, liberating a bull, &c. or a religious rite of four kinds, oblation to the VISWADEVAS, offerings to the spirits, the permanent obsequial rites, and hospitality.
E. पाक, and यज्ञ sacrifice; the distribu- tion of food being a part of each of these ceremonies.
