   1. A spy, a secret emissary, a Harkarā.
   2. A companion. 3. A leader, a preceder.
   4. A whip, a leather thong.
   E. प्रति before, कश् to hurt or kill, aff. अच् and सुट् augment; if it is used attributively to imply the application of a whip, the augment is not inserted, as प्रतिकशाश्वः a horse that is whipped on.
