(middle stem मघ॑-वत् [which may be used throughout], weak stem मघो॑न्; nom.m.मघ॑वा or °वान्f.मघो॑नी or मघवती [[Vop.] ]; n.मघवत्; nom.pl.m. once मघो॑नस्; cf.[Pāṇ. 6-4, 128; 133] ), possessing or distributing gifts, bountiful, liberal, munificent (esp. said of इन्द्र and other gods, but also of institutors of sacrifices who pay the priests and singers), [RV.] ; [AV.] ; [TS.] ; [ŚBr.] ; [Up.]

2. One of the twelve Chakravartis, or uni- versal monarchs of the Jainas.

E. मह to sacrifice, कनिन् Unādi aff. and वुक् augment, form irr.; before the vowel affs. of the second case plural, and the last five cases, the of this word is changed to उ, and thence becomes as usual, as मघोनः, मघोना, मघोने, &c.; also
