उमजणें

To understand. Used also with in. con. as मला उमजतें. A distinction subsists betwixt this verb and समजणें, and is regarded even by the populace. समजणें is to understand in general, in the ordinary measure or way; to apprehend: उमजणें is To understand deeply, thoroughly, fully; to comprehend. Ex. हा मघासीं समजला होता खरा परंतु उमजला न्हवता. 2 To recover or rally from sickness; to brighten up.

समजणें ; लक्षांत येणें ; समजूत पटणें ; माहीत होणें ; असें उमजतां भले न गुरुभाव तो टाकिती . - केका ९७ . उमजणें व समजणें यांमध्यें असा फरक आहे कीं समजणें यानें केवळ सामान्य ज्ञान होतें . परंतु उमजणें म्हणजे पूर्णपणें समजणें ; आंतील रहस्य माहीत होणें असा बोध होतो . उ० हा मघासीं समजला होता खरा परंतु उमजला नव्हता .
आजारांतून उठणें ; टवटवीत होणें .
जागृत होणें ; सावध होणें . जयां दोघांमाजि येखादें । विपाये उमजलें होय निदें ॥ - अमृ १ . १४ .
