2. The moon.
E. नेत्र an eye, and योनि the vulva; being covered with marks resembling that organ, through the curse of GAUTAMA, whose wife he had attempted to debauch; the sage afterwards relenting, changed these dis- graceful marks on the body of the deity to as many eyes.
