हेम—मृग  m. m. a golden deer (according to a story told in [R. iii] , the राक्षसमारीच transformed himself into a golden deer and so captivated राम and his wife सीता, that the former left his forest-home to pursue it; during his absence रावणq.v., disguised as a mendicant, presented himself before सीता and carried her off).
