to heat thoroughly, melt (as gold, according to, [Pāṇ. 8-3, 102] निस्-तप्, if the action is repeated) anneal, purify by heat, free from impurities, [TBr.]; [MBh.]; [R.] &c.;

to roast, fry, [R.]; [Hariv.]
