वेताल—पञ्च-विंश°तिका  f.  f. a collection of 25 tales or fables told by a वेताल or demon to king विक्रमादित्य (of which there are 5 recensions extant, one by क्षेमेन्द्र in his बृहत्-कथा-मञ्जरी, one by सोम-देव in the कथा-सरित्-सागर, and the other three by जम्भल-दत्त, वल्लभ, and शिव-दास; versions of these popular tales exist in Hindī, Tamil and Telugu, and almost every Hindū vernacular).
