A dictionary, Marathi and English

An adjunct proper to the names of Bráhmans; as विष्णुशर्मा ब्राम्हण. The adjunct to the names of the क्षत्रिय is वर्मा; as इंद्रवर्मा क्षत्रिय; that to the names of the वैश्य is गुप्त; as चंद्रगुप्त वैश्य; that to the names of Shúdras is पालित; as राम- पालित शूद्र. No meaning seems to be involved in these affixes.
