पञ्चाङ्ग  n.  n. (mostly ibc.) 5 members or parts of the body, [Kir.]; 5 parts of a tree ( viz. root, bark, leaf, flower, and fruit), [L.]; 5 modes of devotion ( viz. silent prayer, oblations, libations, bathing idols, and feeding Brāhmans), [W.]
   any aggregate of 5 parts, ib.
पञ्चाङ्ग  m.  mf( ई)n. 5-limbed, 5-membered (with प्रणाम m. obeisance made with the arms, knees, head, voice, and look, [Tantras.])
पञ्चाङ्ग  mfn.  mf( ई)n. having 5 parts or subdivisions, [Kāv.] (also °गिक, [Suśr.])
पञ्चाङ्ग  m.  m. a tortoise or turtle, [L.] ( cf. पञ्चा-ङ्ग-गुप्त); a horse with 5 spots in various parts of his body, [L.] ( cf. पञ्च-भद्र)
पञ्चाङ्ग  n.  n. a calendar or almanac (treating of 5 things, viz. solar days, lunar days, नक्षत्रs, [Yogas.] and करणs), [L.]

Shabda-Sagara

पञ्चाङ्ग  mfn.  ( -ङ्गः-ङ्गी-ङ्गं) Having five limbs or members, five parts or subdivisions, consisting of five things, &c.
  n.  ( -ङ्गं)
   1. Any aggregate of five parts or five things.
   2. Five modes of dovo- tion; viz:--silent prayer, burnt offering, libations, bathing idols, [Page414-a+ 60] and feeding Brāhmans.
   3. An almanack describing solar days, lunar days, and the periods of asterisms, Yogas and Karanas. m. ( -ङ्गः)
   1. A tortoise.
   2. A species of horse with five spots on his body: see पञ्चभद्र.
   3. Reverence by extending the hands, bending the knees and head, and in speech and look.
