The पदर or मिऱ्या of the साडी of little girls brought up and tucked in after passing over the waistband on the outside, forming across the umbilical region a lengthwise prominence. This grave operation is termed परवंट काढणें, and is performed about the age of five, entitling the little maiden to the designation of परवंटकरीण or -करी or परवंटी, which, on her attaining the age of ten, merges into पदरकरीण or पदरकर A duly-attired woman.
