प्रावर्तिक

The Practical Sanskrit-English Dictionary | Sanskrit  English |   |
प्रावर्तिक [prāvartika] a.  a. (The क्रम or order) which is followed in the first round (i. e. while performing the first of a series of acts to be done with reference to several persons or things). hence ˚क्रमन्यायः is the rule according to which when a series of acts are to be performed with reference to several persons or things, the first act may be performed in any order one likes, but the subsequent acts are to be performed in the very order in which the first act is performed. this is discussed and established by जैमिनि and शबर in [MS.5.1.8-12.] For, thus it is that a uniform अङ्गप्रधानप्रत्यासत्ति is achieved.
