वन्द्   ( cf. √ वद्) cl. 1. Ā. ( [Dhātup. ii, 10]) व॑न्दते ( ep. also °ति; pf. ववन्द, दे, [RV.] &c. &c.; Prec. वन्दिषीम॑हि, [RV.]; fut. वन्दिता, वन्दिष्यते Gr.; inf. वन्दितुम्, [MBh.] &c.; वन्दा-ध्यै, [RV. i, 27, 1;61, 5]; ind.p. वन्दित्वा-वन्द्य, [MBh.] &c.),

to praise, celebrate, laud, extol, [RV.]; [AV.]; [ŚāṅkhŚr.];

to show honour, do homage, salute respectfully or deferentially, venerate, worship, adore, [RV.] &c. &c.;

to offer anything ( acc.) respectfully to ( dat.), [MārkP.] :

Pass. वन्द्यते ( aor. अवन्दि, वन्दि), to be praised or venerated, [RV.] &c. &c. Caus. वन्दयति (aor. अववन्दत् °दत), to show honour to any one, greet respectfully, [MārkP.] :
