स्तुभ्

स्तुभ्   1. (connected with √ 1.स्तु and स्तुम्भ्) cl. 1. P. ([Naigh. iii, 14] ) स्तो॑भति (only in pres. base; 3. sg.स्तोब्धि, [JaimBr.] ; p.Ā.-स्तुभान, [RV.] ; Gr. also pf.तुष्टुभे; fut.स्तोभिता &c.),
to utter a joyful sound, hum, make a succession of exclamations, shout (esp. applied to the chanted interjections in a सामन्), [RV.] ; [Br.] ; [Lāṭy.] ;
cl. 1. Ā.स्तोभते, to pause, stop, cause to stop, paralyze &c. (स्तम्भे), [Dhātup. x, 34] :
Caus.स्तोभयति (aor.अतुष्टुभत्), to praise in successive exclamations, celebrate, [RV.]
स्तुभ्   [cf.Eng.stop.]
स्तुभ्  mfn. 2.mfn. (ifc.) uttering joyful sounds, praising (cf.अनु-, त्रि-ष्टुभ्, वृष-स्तुभ् &c.; accord. to some स्तुभ् in the first two comp. means ‘stopping, pausing’, the metre requiring regular stoppages or pauses; but see, अनु-ष्टुभ्)
स्तुभ्  f. f. joyful exclamation or cry, praise, [RV.]
स्तुभ्  m. m. a praiser, [Naigh. iii, 16.]
