muṇḍā or muṇḍhā m The attendant upon a हिजडा or hermaphrodite, when he goes his beggingrounds. As the Hindús may not suffer the हिजडा to enter their houses, nor may even look upon his face, this मुंडा, being a man of caste, demands and receives alms on the हिजडा's account. Pr. हिजड्याची जोड मुंड्यानें खावी. Called also खरखर- मुंडा & मामरमुंडा. Deprived of its head, crop, top, tip, horns, extreme point or end--a tree or plant, a finger, a knife, a beast. 2 Wanting its edge, rim, or border--a vessel. 3 Mere, plain, bare, wanting the usual per centage of पंचोतरी and सळी;--used of the शेकडा or hundred, and opp. to खरा शेकडा the full hundred. 4 Naked, void, wanting the usual ornament, a ppendage, or accompaniment. 5 Of which the horns are turned back and down. 6 Void of a canopy--a throne; or void of title to a canopy over his throne--a nawáb, toparch, or petty potentate. muṇḍhā m The region or round of the shoulder- 2 Abridged from मुंढा हात q. v infra. 3 The muzzle or nozzle of a पखाल: also, with many, the head or filling-orifice. 4 The attendant upon a हिजडा or hermaphrodite.
