AGNIṢVĀTTA   One of the seven Pitṛs. The other six Pitṛs are: Vairāja, Gārhapatya, Somapa, Ekaśṛṅga, Caturveda and Kāla. [M.B., Sabhā Parva, Chapter 11, Verses 44, 45 and 46] .

अग्निष्वात्त n.  एक पितृगण । ब्रह्मदेव अपनी मानसकन्या सन्ध्या को देख कर काममोहित हुए । उस समय उनेक धर्म से यह उत्पन्न हुआ । इनकी संख्या चौसठ हजार है । ये नित्य मनोविग्रह कर के वैराग्य से रहते हैं [कालि.२] । ये काश्यपपुत्र हैं तथा देवों को पूज्य हैं [म.१४.-१५] ; [ह. वं. १] । इनकी पत्नी स्वधा [भा.४.१] ।

अग्निष्वात्त  m.  pl. ( -त्ताः) Demigods or names to whom funeral oblations are presented. They are said to be the sons of MARĪCHI, and progenitors especially of the gods.
E. अग्नि, स्व own, and आत्त taken, who receive what is offered them by fire as their own.
