उद्-√ गम्    P. -गच्छति ( Ved. impf. 1. pl. -अगन्म) to come forth, appear suddenly, become visible, [RV. i, 50, 10]; [R.]; [Ragh.] : [Vikr.] &c.;

to go up, rise (as a star), ascend, start up, [MBh.]; [VarBṛS.]; [Ratnāv.] &c.;

to go out or away, disappear, [R.]; [BhP.]; [Bhartṛ.] &c.;

to spread, extend, [Ragh.] :

Caus. -गमयति, to cause to rise, [Pat.];

to cause to come out or issue (as milk from the mother's breast), suck.

To rise or spring from, proceed, originate, arise; इत्युद्गताः पौरवधूमुखेभ्यः शृण्वन् कथाः [R.7.16;] [Amaru.96.]
To go out, break out, depart (as life &c.).
