   A vedic metre of 3 Pādas, the first two containing 8 syllables each, and the third 12.
   A classical metre of 4 Pādas with 7 syllables in each.
   A brick sacred to उष्णिह्.

Shabda-Sagara

उष्णिह्  f.  ( -ष्णिक्) A verse of four lines, each line being of seven syllables: it is used chiefly in the Vedas.
    E. उत् prefixed to ष्णिह् to be unctu- ous or bland, क्विन् aff.
