पंचक n.  इंद्र द्वारा स्कंद को दिय गये दो पार्षदों में से एक । दूसरे का नाम उत्क्रोश था [म.श.४४.३२ पाठ] ।

An aggregate of five. 2 The five Nakshatras from the latter half of Dhanishṭha to the first half of Ashwiní; during which certain works are forbidden. 3 A certain number--To the number of a particular लग्न add the number of the preceding lunar day, and divide the sum by 9: the remainder, if it be 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 is a पंचक. These have distinct names, and are all unlucky.
