PIPPALA I   The youngest of the three sons born to the daitya named Mitra of his wife Revatī. [Bhaviṣya Purāṇa] .
PIPPALA II   A brahmin born of the race of Kaśyapa. Pippala did severe penance and became arrogant of the power acquired by it. Once he happened to see the eminent sage Sukarmā serving with devotion his own mother and father and that made his arrogance fade a bit. [Bhūmi Khaṇḍa, Padma Purāṇa, Chapter 61] .

पिप्पल n.  मित्र नामक आदित्य एवं रेवती के तीन पुत्रों में से कनिष्ठ पुत्र [भा.६.१८.६]
पिप्पल II. n.  एक ब्राह्मणभक्षक राक्षस, जो अगस्त्य ऋषि के द्वादशवर्षीय सत्र के समय लोगों को त्रस्त करता था ।
पिप्पल III. n.  एक कश्यप कुलोत्पन्न ब्राह्मण । उग्र तपस्या के कारण इसका अहंकार काफी बढ गया था । पर एक बार माता-पिता की सेवा करके सर्ववश्यता प्राप्त करनेवाले सुकर्मन् ऋषि को देखकर इसका अहंकार जाता रहा [पद्म. भू. ६१-६३,८४] ; सुकर्मन् देखिये ।
