श्रीमत् n.  एक राजकुमार, जो दत्तात्रेय राजा का पौत्र, एवं निमि राजा का पुत्र था । इसकी असामयिक मृत्यु होने पर एक वर्ष के पश्चात् अमावस्या के दिन, इसके पिता निमि ने इसका पहला वर्षश्राद्ध किया ।
श्रीमत् n.  इस प्रकार निमि इस संसार में प्रचलित श्राद्धविधि का आद्यजनक बन गया । आगे चल कर अत्रि ऋषि के निमि के द्वारा प्रणीत श्राद्धविधि को स्वयंभु के द्वारा प्रणीत बता कर उसका पुरस्कार किया, एवं मृत रिश्तेदारों के लिए श्राद्धविधि करने की प्रथा भारतवर्ष में सर्वत्र प्रचलिन हुई [म. अनु. ९१.१-२१] । महाभारत में इसका वंशक्रम निम्नप्रकार दिया गया हैः---स्वयंभु -अत्रि - दत्तात्रय - निमि - श्रीमत्।
