संस्तम्भ्

to make rigid (said of water), [MBh.] ;
to restrain, check, stop (esp. by magical means), [Kathās.] ;
to suppress (tears or sorrow), [R.] ; [BhP.] ;
Ā. (only Impv.स्तम्भस्व) to be firm, take heart or courage, [Nir. ix, 12] (in, [R. iv, 1, 115] [B.]-स्तम्भid.; cf.-स्तभ्य) :
Caus.-स्तम्भयति, to confirm, strengthen (आत्मानम् आत्मना, ‘one's self by one's self’), encourage, [MBh.] ; [R.] &c.;
to take heart or courage, [R.] ;
to make rigid or solid (water), [MBh.] ; [Rājat.] ;

संस्तम्भ्     

संस्तम्भ् [saṃstambh]   5, 9 P. (caus. also)
To stop, restrain, control; प्रयत्नसंस्तम्भितवक्रियाणां कथंचिदीशा मनसां बभूवुः [Ku. 3.34.]
To paralyze, benumb; वृत्तिः मोहेन संस्तम्भयतेन्द्रिया- णाम् [Ku.3.73.]
To take heart or courage, cheer up, compose, collect (oneself); संस्तम्भ राम भद्रं ते मा शुचः पुरुषोत्तम [Rām.4.1.115;] देवि संस्तम्भयात्मानम् [U.4.]
To make firm or immoveable; एवं बुद्धेः परं बुद्ध्वा संस्तभ्यात्मान- मात्मना [Bg.3.43.]
To support, prop up.
To confirm, establish, corroborate.
