रूपक n.  एक शिवभक्त राक्षस, जिसके पुत्र का नाम संपति था । ये दोनों अन्याय्य मार्ग से संपत्ति प्राप्त कर, वह शिव-उपासना के लिए व्यतीत करते थे । इस कारण मृत्यु की पश्वात्, शिव के मानसपुत्र वीरभद्र ने इन्हें कहा, ‘अगले जन्म में तुम चोर बनोगे, किन्तु शिवभक्ति के कारण तुम्हारा उद्धार होगा’ [पद्म. पा. ११४] ।

   (In Rhet.) A figure of speech corresponding to the English metaphor, in which the upameya is represented as being identical with the upamāna; तद्रूपकमभेदो य उपमानोपमेययोः K. P.1 (see ad loc. for details).
