-शब्दः   a word which conveys its sense by रूढि (usage) as opposed to योग (etymology); बहुषु कुशानां लातुः गुणेषु सत्सु निपुणतायामेव कुशलशब्दो रोहाद् रूढिशब्द एव भवति ŚB. on [MS.6.7.22.]
-शब्दता   the state of being used in a conventional sense.
