KṚŚĀŚVA I   The Prajāpati called Kṛśāśva married Jayā and Suprabhā the daughters of Dakṣaprajāpati and to both were born fifty sons each. All the sons were really arrows called Saṁhāra. Viśvāmitra, by the power of penance made these hundred sons (arrows) of Kṛśā- śva his own. It was these arrows, which Viśvāmitra gave to Śrī Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa. [Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Bālakāṇḍa, Cantos 21 and 26] .
KṚŚĀŚVA II   A king of the solar dynasty. [Bhāgavata, 9th Skandha] .
KṚŚĀŚVA III   A King who served Yama in his court. [Sabhā Parva, Chapter 8, Verse 17] . Once he came down to earth in Indra's Vimāna to witness Arjuna, in the company of Uttara, the Virāṭa prince, fight during the lifting of cows. [Sabhā Parva, Chapter 56] .

प्राचीन चरित्रकोश

कृशाश्व n.  एक ऋषि तथा प्रजापति । प्राचेतस दक्ष ने अपनी साठ कन्याओं में से दो कन्याएं इसे दी थीं । उनका नाम अर्चि एवं धिपणा था । अर्चि को धूम्रकेश, तथा धिषणा को वेदशिरस्, देवल, वयुन तथा मनु ये पुत्र हुवे । इसके अतिरिक्त इसे जया एवं प्रभा नामक दो कन्याएं भी थीं । किंतु ये किस स्त्री से उत्पन्न हुई, इसका उल्लेख नहीं मिलता [वा.रा.वा.२१] । यह यजुर्वेदी ब्रह्मचारी था ।
कृशाश्व II. n.  (सू. दिष्ट.) राजा सहदेव का पुत्र । इसका पुत्र सोमदत्त ।
कृशाश्व III. n.  (सू. इ.) कृताश्व राजा का नामांतर ।
कृशाश्व IV. n.  नाटयकला का आचार्य एक ऋषि [पा. सू. ४.३.१११] ।
