AoTH, as the name only too patently shows, has for its
theme the Nawab Asaf Khan who, as we gather from
history, was the favourite Khan Khanan of the Emperor
Shah Jehan, and who died in 1641 A. D. In arT,
Jagannātha praises Dara Sikoh, the eldest son of Shah
Jehan, From these references, it becomes abundantly
clear that Jagannātha flourished in the reign of Shah
Jehan, and very probably he began his literary career in
the reign of Jehangir.
