vein in his writings-these proceed from the impetuous
temperament of the emotional poet.
Yet, Jagannātha was a scrupulous man. None but a
conscientious heart could adopt such & touching attitude
as Jagannātha did, when, laden with years and experience
of the world, he tried to look back upon the varied
pageant of the past and take a review of how he had
1ived all along : शাाख्तराण्याकलितानि नित्वविधय : सर्वैऽपि संभाविता
दिल्लीवल्लभप णिपत्रतले नीतं नवीनं वयः | संप्रख्युज्झितवासनं मधुपुरीमध्ये हरिः

shows the religious nature of Jagannātha. As a matter
of fect the devotional compositions like गङ्गालहरी, असृतलहरी,
Tuasa ai all show the religious attitude of the poet. The
Sāntavilāsa shows Jagannāths as a fervent devotee of
Vişnu, or Srikrsna. He was s Vaişņava of the Advaita
or Sānkara school.
