प्रास्ताविकविलासः ।
लूनं मत्तगजैः कियत्कियदृपि चिछिन्नं तुषारादितैः
शिष्टं ग्रीष्मजभीष्मभानुकिरणैर्भस्मीकृतं काननम् ।
एषा कोणगता मुहुः परिमलैरामोद्यन्ती दिशो
हो कष्टं ललिता लवङगलतिका दावाशिना दह्यते ॥ ५५ ॥
स्वलोकस्य शिखामणिः सुरतरुग्रामस्य धामादभुतं
पौलोमीपुरुहूतयोः परिणतिः पुण्यावलीनामसि ।
सत्यं नन्दन किं त्विदं सहृदृयैर्नित्यं विधिः प्रार्थ्यते
त्वत्तः खाण्डवरङ्गताण्डवनटो दूरेऽस्तु वैश्वानरः ॥ ५ ६ ॥
स्वस्वव्यापृतिमझमानसतया मत्तो निवृत्ते जने
चञ्चूकोटिविदारिताररपुटो यास्याम्यहं पञरात् ।
एवं कीरवरे मनोरथमयं पीयूषमास्वादृय-
त्यन्तः संप्रक्विश वारणकराकारः फणिग्रामणीः ॥ ५७ ॥
55 The forest is partly lopped of by intoxicated
elephants; in parts. it has been cut by those oppressed
by cold; and what remained of it is consumed to ashes
And now alas !
by the rays of the fierce summer sun.
this lovely clove-creeper, delighting from a corner the
quarters with its rich fragrance, is being burnt up by
the forest-fire !
56 Thou art, O Nandana, the crest-jewel of the
heavenly world, the wonderful abode of the various
celestial trees, and the maturation of the heaps of
meritorious deeds of Paulomi and Indra. This is true,
indeed. Yet the Disposer is always prayed to by the
wise as follows: May the all-devouring fire, the vio-
lent dancer on the stage of the khandara forest, keep
a way from thee!
